Hello! I’m Avishek De.
I’m an associate software developer in the Risk Division at Goldman Sachs working on building applications and frameworks that act as an interface between our internal products and our programs running on the public cloud across hundreds of thousands of servers. I have a BTech degree in Electrical and Computer Science from IIT Roorkee.
I am passionate about software development with more than 3.5 years of experience in the domain of cloud computing, big data and analytics, parallel computing and web development. I also take a strong interest in competitive programming and finance.
When I’m not working, you can find me researching gadgets, playing Dota2, watching football or cooking.
• Developed an autonomous engine to dynamically reconfigure memory and CPU parameters of the GS-leased public cloud hosts based on temporal resource demand, improving utilization and calculation throughput.
• Developed a job-packing algorithm using dynamic programming and mathematical methods to reliably predict resource requirements leveraging historical data and reduce compute bill by 25% for Risk division. Redis
• Developed a Microservices architecture-based job distribution framework using Kafka, MongoDB and in-house graph databases to publish pricing jobs on the public cloud calculating multiple risk metrics for more than 4 million trade positions daily.
• Improved risk models for a portfolio of equity derivative trade positions, reducing the computation time spent on the calculation of their risk metrics leading to $50 million capital savings for the firm annually.
• Developed a framework to dynamically request Pre-Emptible compute from GCP based on resource demands to reduce reserved cloud capacity and overall compute bill.
• Developed risk computation frameworks for US regulatory deliverables including FRTB Internal Model Approach (IMA), risk theoretical P&L (RTPL), risk hypothetical P&L (RHPL) and credit-valuation adjustment (CVA).
• Built an e-commerce platform for a healthcare startup, getting them business-ready from scratch in 1.5 months.
• Developed a customized enterprise resource planning (ERP) suite to handle order management, inventory and logistics for their unique rentals-based products and services.

Spent an interactive day with children having autism spectrum and other developmental disorders at Shrishti Special Academy - a Bangalore based NGO. Also participated in gardening activities and helped sprucing up the ambience to make the place more lively for the children.
Led a team of 6 people where we spent a day counselling underprivileged high-school students about the various career opportunities available to them after school.
I taught English, Mathematics and Science to underprivileged students belonging to nearby rural areas. I also organized multiple blood donation camps for the local government hospital and other environmental awarenenss programmes. I also helped poor villagers earn a living by teaching them to make and sell paper bags to local shops and roadside vendors.
